Best Months – April through to November
A Closer Look
Make an impact in your life and the life of a species by participating in our conservation trip to Zimbabwe, focusing mainly on painted dogs. Having worked with them ourselves for several years, we understand how important it is to contribute to the plight of saving these endangered animals.
Painted Dog Conservation (PDC) works to engage and involve local communities in protecting painted dogs in Zimbabwe. The painted dog, or African wild dog, once roamed the African continent with estimates of over half a million spread among 39 countries. However, current estimates show a huge population decline, averaging their numbers around 3,000 dogs. They are now found only in a hand full of African countries. Since PDC’s creation, Zimbabwe’s wild dog population has increased from an average of 400 to around 700 dogs, making Zimbabwe one of the strong holds for painted dogs.
